IELTS is run in Nigeria by two organisations, the British Council and IDP. Both sell the same tests with the same results, but their prices for some tests differ.

The ₦25,000 British Council discount
The British Council is offering ₦25,000 off when you book with the code NGBCIELTS26. It runs from 14 July to 31 December 2026 and is limited to the first 50 bookings each week, so book early in the week. Details on the British Council site.
Which IELTS test do you need?
- IELTS Academic: for university admission abroad, and for nurses registering in the UK or Ireland.
- IELTS General Training: for work and migration to Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
- IELTS for UKVI: for UK visas, such as the Skilled Worker or Health and Care Worker visa.
- IELTS Life Skills: for some UK family and settlement visas, where only speaking and listening are tested.
If you’re applying for a UK visa, check that you book the UKVI version. A normal IELTS Academic result can’t be used for most UK visa applications.
